The 3×3 method, practised on the slope
A teaching film on avalanche prevention, made with the SLF: on a ski tour with avalanche expert Stephan Harvey, from the planning table into the descent.
Harvey explains the 3×3 method: conditions, terrain and people, checked during planning, on site and on the individual slope. SRF and the avalanche research institute SLF produced the film together.
The film leads from the slope-angle map via the crux to the summit; on the descent the camera rides on the ski pole. Animated overlays mark in the snow where danger lies.
SRF Meteo presented the film online in November 2018, also on YouTube; the SLF uses it in its courses. Part of the collaboration with SRF.
