The Aebihorn in the museum, the Stanserhorn in front of it
Standing on the Aebihorn near Zermatt, in the middle of the Salzmagazin in Stans.
For the Nidwaldner Museum, a walk-in rotunda was built in 2009 in the historic Salzmagazin. Its panorama showed the view from the Aebihorn near Zermatt, photographed by Matthias Taugwalder after the climb on foot.
The exhibition “Alpenpanoramen” also showed the helicopter panoramas of Willi P. Burkhardt from Nidwalden, the high Alps from the air. One part of the exhibition lay outside, on the Stanserhorn.
Whoever had stood on the Valais summit inside found the view on their own doorstep at the Stanserhorn. A combined ticket linked museum and railway, and workshops brought school classes to the exhibition.
